Power Engineering
The Power Engineering group consists of nine faculty members, who operate under two broad sub-groups, namely Power Systems and Power Electronics, Electrical Machines and Drives (PEEMD). M.Tech. programmes are offered in each of these areas with a typical annual intake of 15 students. The research interests of the faculty include Power Systems Analysis and Control, Power Generation, HVDC, FACTS, Distribution Automation, Power Quality, Energy Systems, Energy Audit and Energy Conservation, Renewable Energy (Wind, Small Hydro, and PV), Electrical Machines and Drives, Power Electronics, Special Electric Machines, Adjustable Speed Drives and Intelligent Motor Control. The group has research collaboration with several industries, power utilities and R&D organizations in India and abroad. The faculty regularly publishes in reputed national and international journals and has organized major national and international conferences. The group faculty is involved in sponsored research and consultancy projects. Their contribution includes patents and technology transfer to the industry. Students have access to well-equipped UG and PG machines and Drives laboratories, a Power Systems laboratory and a Power Electronics laboratory, which also host special electrical machines; power electronic controllers; facilities for power instrumentation, data acquisition and energy audit and computing facilities with state-of-the-art software.

Integrated Electronics and Circuits
The Integrated Electronics and Circuits (IEC) group comprises of 12 faculty members. The IEC faculty is actually involved in research and development activities in Digital Signal Processing, VLSI Design, Photonics, Mixed-Signal, RF Circuits, Memory Technologies, Spintronics and MEMS, Analog Circuit Design, Artificial Neural Networks, Circuit Testing, Fault-Tolerance, Fail-Safe Design, Microelectronics and Power Devices and regularly publish in reputed international journals and conference proceedings. Several books have been authored by the faculty from the group. A number of international and national awards and fellowships have been conferred on several members. Many IEC faculties are associated with the editorial boards of leading journals and programme committees of reputed conferences. The IEC group members contribute actively to the Memorandum of Understanding between IIT Delhi and the Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani as well as another with the Defense Research and Development Organization. Students have access to the Electronics, IMPACT, VLSI and VDTT laboratories which have several networked PCs, workstations and public domain and commercial software packages for circuit and VLSI design and digital signal processing. Several hardware facilities for circuit prototyping, testing and signal processing are also available. The IEC group conducts two master’s programs. The EEN program is part of the Electrical Engineering Department. The VDTT program is a fully sponsored interdisciplinary master’s program. Both M. Tech and MS degrees are offered in both of the programs.
